Wellness Classes

CFRI’s free drop-in wellness classes for the CF community are held on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

No experience required, and all abilities are welcome.

Sign up once and attend as many or as few classes as you would like. The schedule of upcoming classes is below.

During each Pilates session, you will focus on proper breathing, movement & stabilization, all while allowing your body to strengthen your core. No equipment is needed. Accessible for beginners and effective for building full-body control and definition.

U-Jam

U-Jam Fitness is a fun and engaging workout that incorporates urban dance moves, such as hip-hop, Bollywood, and urban styles, into a full-body cardio workout. Designed to provide a total body workout that improves coordination, balance, and flexibility, U-Jam Fitness also promotes mental well-being and a sense of community through the group exercise and dance choreography experience.

Slow Flow Yoga

This is a slow flow class with an emphasis on intentional movement.  Includes a lot of cueing so good for beginners through experienced. Cueing starts with the most basic and offers options to advance poses. Includes meditative and breathing techniques helpful for people with CF.

Qigong

Qigong is a 5000(ish) year-old Eastern practice with Taoist roots that combines simple and gentle body movements with breathing. Julie will guide us in a 20-30 minute practice which will be done standing, but can be modified and done sitting as well. It is essentially a meditation in movement and can lead to profound relaxation and flow.

POUND and POUND Unplugged

The workout combines cardio, Pilates, isometric movements and plyometrics with constant simulated drumming – all to loud, kick-ass music. An energizing, infectious, sweat-dripping workout, each strike of the Ripstix releases a primal aggression as well as a neuromuscular reward of mixing sound and movement. POUND allows you to truly become the music. We finish the workout with rhythmic breathing, mindfulness and meditation to help you quickly settle back into a peaceful, recharged, and empowered state.

Flexibility/Mobility

Flexibility is a muscle’s passive ability to stretch, while mobility is a joint’s active ability to move through a full range of motion with control and strength. This class focuses on strength and stability alongside lengthening muscles.

Cardio Barre is a high-energy, low-impact workout blending ballet-inspired barre work, light weights, and bodyweight exercises to sculpt long, lean muscles, elevate the heart rate, and burn calories without jumping. It focuses on fast-paced, high-repetition movements with slow, controlled form to strengthen arms, legs, glutes, and abs for a full-body definition.
