Advocacy Day In Sacramento
On May 4, 2026, CFRI advocates traveled to Sacramento in honor of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month (SCR 146), introduced by Senator John Laird. The day included meetings with 20 legislative offices—both state senators and assembly members—where advocates shared personal stories to raise awareness of CF. Discussions also covered key legislation, including bills to regulate pharmacy benefit managers (SB1199), limit prior authorizations for prescription dosing adjustments (SB 964), prohibit health plans from requiring prior authorizations and step therapies to cover prescription drugs for rare diseases (AB 1887), and prevent life and disability insurers from discrimination based on genetic test results (AB 1798). It was an inspiring and uplifting day for all involved.
