A Letter from the Retreat Committee
Twenty adults with CF and a supportive crowd of siblings, parents, significant others,
and health care professionals came together in August at the Redwood Glen Conference
Center overlooking Half Moon Bay.
CFRI had originally intended to sponsor a Family Retreat (formerly Camp) as it has every year for the past 10 years. However, serious concerns about the ability and resources of laboratories and CF Centers to monitor and control cross infection between people with CF, led CFRI to suspend the family retreat. Currently, CFRI will only sponsor a retreat for adults until these issues have been resolved.
The participants drafted both a mission statement and a cross infection wish list. The force behind this advocacy for cross-infection protocol was not driven by medical professionals, lawyers, parents, or insurers, but by the general will and need of the CF population to convene healthfully. CFRI cordially invites anyone interested to be a part of this history in the making.
