CF Community

CFRI receives information about publications, on-line resources, and opportunities for the CF community across the country. All who are involved with cystic fibrosis benefit from growing a strong network of knowledge and support.

Stay tuned for announcements of educational events and activities.

A CF Warrior and Her Mother

Tess and Siri, a compelling team, reflect on their daily battle with cystic fibrosis and their support of an organization that makes a difference. They recognize that CFRI impacts the CF community by funding research, education and awareness, enhancing the quality of life for those living with CF.

CFRI recognizes Heroes of Hope recipients

The Heroes of Hope program, sponsored by Genentech, seeks to recognize and salute unique individuals with cystic fibrosis who strive to live full, productive lives and serve as role models to others. Recently, 7 extraordinary Heroes of Hope from around the country, living and succeeding with cystic fibrosis, were honored at this year's CFRI 21st Annual Education Conference. Healing Flags for Japan

The project, Healing Flags for Japan, was created to reach out to families affected by cystic fibrosis in Japan. Project creator, Robin Modlin, mother of an adult daughter with CF offered the flags as a gift while on tour with The Power Of Two Movie documentary team in October, 2009.

Members of the CFRI community came to the office in Mountain View, CA to decorate flags. There were 28 flags from members of CF families and friends. The flags shared hope, beauty and support to all people affected by CF in Japan.

The Importance of Education

I have been meaning to e-mail you since Claire started Kindergarten to let you know how helpful the CFRI booklet "Cystic Fibrosis in the Classroom" was for us. I gave a copy to her teacher, the school principal, the school nurse, and the district nurse to read before we met to set up her 504 plan. I also used a folder I received from the last CFRI conference by Lisa Yourman on what to put in a 504 plan. It was a great help to have the resources to guide me through the process. Setting up her 504 plan went without a hitch! Claire's teacher, school administrators, and nurses were extraordinarily kind and have been willing to help us in any possible way. Thanks so much for all the great work you do at CFRI. Having resources like this makes such a tremendous difference, and I really appreciate all you do.
